Skirt and Blouse Set C/O YesFor | Steve Madden Pumps

I don't usually mix patterns and prints, but when I saw this skirt and blouse set I thought I just might have to make an exception. Every so often you have to try something new or revisit something old, I figure. I love the cut of this skirt and was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of both pieces. For shoes, I chose to wear simple black pumps so they wouldn't take away from an outfit that was already a bit more attention grabbing than what I'm used to. And I opted for a much lighter lip colour than usual to compliment the pretty summery colours of the blouse.

Tippi Hedren Makeup Tutorial

Just posted a new tutorial — this one is inspired by Tippi Hedren’s makeup in The Birds! I was a bit uncertain about how I’d feel about the blue eyeshadow, but I actually love how this look turned out! I always forget how much I like 1960s makeup.

Thrifted Dress | Belt from Sirens | Bag C/O Chicwish | Steve Madden Pumps

I've not usually one for jumper style dresses, but I absolutely love this one that I found at a thrift shop in Sidney. It has a tiny all-over paisley print, pockets (!), and was an utter bargain. I paired it with black pumps, a skinny belt, and a lovely fringed bag from Chicwish.

I think this may be one of my favourite outfits of the summer -- it felt very 'me', y' know what I mean?

Summertime Rose

Shirt C/O SheInside | Shorts C/O Chicwish | Material Girl Pumps

Since these rose print shorts from Chicwish are one of the most girly pieces I own, I decided to pair them with a classic button down shirt, intending to contrast the two somewhat. I never feel quite right if I dress too overly girly. For me, frills, pinks, florals, ruffles, and such need to be balanced out accordingly. Otherwise, I eschewed accessories, as I often do, and opted for a pair of simple black heels bought last autumn.

Jangling down the street, making bloodshot eyes at every woman that you meet

Top from Suzy Shier | Skirt C/O Chicwish | Earrings from Suzy Shier | Vintage Bag | Vintage Heels

For another simple and sort of summery outfit, I paired a plain black top with a skirt from Chicwish. I just love this skirt and the weight of it is wonderful. It could easily be paired with tights and worn into the cooler months, but still isn't too heavy for the warmer weather. As for accessories, I opted for two pieces that used to be my mother's and a pair of junk jewellery gold earrings.

All That Glitters

Evening Gown C/O TBDress

In the past, the outfit posts on this blog were heavily focused on casual looks, but earlier this year I decided to branch out a bit and include some evening wear, as well. This is the third look in a little series I've been putting together, the two previous looks can be found here and here.
For this look, I styled a sequinned evening gown from TBDress. I arranged the straps across my chest, preferring this to the intended halter-strap style of the dress. And due to the length of the dress which, on someone of my height, drags on the floor a bit excessively without heels, I chose one of my higher pairs of heels (though they aren't visible in these photos). I decided to forgo accessories due to the attention grabbing nature of the sequins that cover the dress and opted for a classic red lip and nails.

I bet you say that to all of the girls

Top C/O SheInside | Vintage Handmade Skirt | Vintage Bag | Steve Madden Pumps

Another all black evening out look. For this one, I thought I'd go for something a little more feminine and so opted for a skirt rather than trousers. I paired a low-cut top from SheInside with a satin skirt that my mum made in the 1980s and a vintage bag.
